Tents of the new Fort Casey military camp are lined up in the foreground of this view, which shows both the old and new lighthouses. The new lighthouse, just over the rise in the distance, was opened in 1903. The old wooden lighthouse at upper right was dismantled in 1927, having been moved to make room for the fort in 1897 and used as non-commissioned officers' quarters for a time after the new lighthouse began operation.
